We had a successful block watch meeting a few months ago. Next we need to follow up on the people who attended. Many were able to voice their concerns about the crime in the neighborhood. The assigned officer was very gracious and listened to people as they told him story after story about the crime in the neighborhood. We have a gungho resident that is working to get other block watches started on other streets. Many who attended might be possible captains. With help from residents the police will be able to do a better job. We have prayed for this break though to empower people to not be afraid to call the police. Many have been threatened in the past that if they started a block watch that they would face retaliation. This is also a break though because of the leadership that is starting to emerge from the neighborhood.
