Mobile Homes

The homes in Granada Estates are an interesting mix of mobile and modular. Some are well taken care of and maintained.

Some homes are condemned and Police have to work hard to keep squatters and tweekers out of the building. This can become a hazard. Often these homes burn because of the preparation of the drugs.

There is still a lot of hail damage around the neighborhoods. The hail was the size of golf balls and blasted the paint off of many homes.

There are about 200 kids in the area. Many of them have grandparents taking care of them.

Some homes like this modular home is part of the home replacement program. To qualify, someone needs to own their home and meet the monetary limits.

Many times homes are built around existing trailers a little at a time. Then the trailer is gutted, leaving only the trunk and wheels in the pit below.

Often the duct work and electrical work is exposed to the elements.

Many homes use outside space as extra living space. Many homes have no air conditioning because of disrepair or it never had it in the first place. Outside in the shade is an alternative to the heat inside.

The average mobile home lasts 10 or so years. Most of the homes in Granada Estates were made in the 60s and 70s.
