Rebuilding Together Paint-a-thon

We are working again to find homes in Granada Estates that need to be painted. We have done this for two years. Last year we painted two homes and the year before we painted 5. We work with Rebuilding Together which gives us applications to hand out to homeowners who potentially qualify to get their homes painted. They do an inspection of the home and interview homeowners and have them choose paint colors. Usually they get to choose from 4 base colors and 4 trim colors. Our job is to identify homes and give them the applications. Later we will find out who has qualified and then Rebuilding together will give us supplies and paint to complete the project. The next step will be gather volunteers to power wash the home a few days before the event. Then volunteers will be taping, or cutting in and then loading up their rollers with the chosen paint. Painting a home helps encourage others in the neighborhood to make their places nice also. Homeowners tend to want to keep things looking nice. Usually we also end up doing some light yard work and developing relationships.

Our volunteer teams learn how to paint, how to work together as a team, and how to encourage each other. It is giving back to someone who needs a hand up. Each team has a house leader that has gone through a training process from Rebuilding Together and guides the work on that day.  It is a lot of fun for the whole family.

Consider joining us on October 19th.
