Doug

I met Doug at the beginning of our work in Granada Estates. That was over 3 years ago. Doug is one of the many residents that are caring for grandchildren. When I met him his wife had just gotten out of the hospital. He had been taking care of her and needed our assistance.

About 6 months prior to us meeting a large hail storm had come through the area. Hail stones ranged in size from golf balls to softballs. They did a lot of damage to Granada Estates that is still visible today. Doug had lost some windows, his AC was damaged and the paint was blasted off his out buildings.

We helped him cleaning up his yard, getting rid of debris and trimmed the trees. We also got to help some of his neighbors. Doug is currently encouraging them to start a block watch on his street.

Doug really enjoyed getting to know Pastor Dan in that first meeting. Doug now attends Faith Bible Church and is serving in one of our ministries. His children and grandchildren often join us as well.

One of our life groups checked up on him to see how he was doing and because they kept in touch Doug got the support he needed in a time of deep sadness for his family. We were able to grieve with him and pray for him. Now they are rejoicing with him as he celebrates a milestone with one of his children.
