We just had an event where we
painted the halls of the local high school.
Thankfully we had a
licensed painter in the crew who acted as
our
foreman.
30 people of
all ages came and primed, cut in and painted the halls. Moms,
dads, grandparents all showed their children of all ages how to give back to
the
community.
While we were there we
prayed for the kids that would be attending
in the fall. What an incredible opportunity to be able to bless the kids of
Granada Estates and give them a fresh start for the
new school year. I was
particularly excited because that meant that the school trusts us to come in
and lend them a hand. Often times they are tied by regulations and rules that
can limit
involvement.
We started by helping the school with their
food pantry. When they had
lost funding for their
bridge program we were able to help them
keep it going for one more year. The bridge program helps at risk kids who are
entering their freshman year to be prepared for their High School experience.
Last year we collected school
supplies for the teachers to use and
Starbucks
cards to give them a little joy. We hope to be able to do that again this year.
